Ewan the dream sheep – A Review and Giveaway

My niece came along over 6 years ago now and she was the first baby in our family for a while.   My brother had discovered some soothing white noises on his phone and around the house that would calm her down during fraught moments.  It was all very fascinating.   Static type noises worked best with her and her sobs would disappear within a minute or so.

Roll on 6 years and we’ve been reviewing the clever little Ewan the dream sheep.  A very cuddly sheep soft toy that has some inbuilt soothing sounds.    It’s suitable for use right from birth so we’ve been testing it out on Little Baby E.

Ewan comes in two colours, purple faced or grey faced and the latter has come to live at our house, with a different soothing sound on each leg and consist of:
1. Rainfall sound

2. Heartbeat sound

3.  Lullaby / Harp sounds

4. Womb noise

My personal favourite is the heartbeat one and ocasisonally the rainfall one.  I always find the sound of rainfall is lovely when you’re in bed so that one at night time is very calm and soothing to me.  Obviously it’s not really meant for me though.

(I’ve since seen this little tag on his bottom so I retract that above statement!)

Little E seems to enjoy the lullaby one the most.  I thought he may like the womb one the most but he likes the gentle tones of the music so we’ve stuck to that particular one.  Ewan comes with a pink glowing heart when switched on and it makes a very nice addition to the calming experience.  And at just over a week old I discovered when Ewan works best for us….nappy change time!!  Little E has an excellent set of lungs on him and will go from silent to screaming his head off in about 10 seconds, usually at the point when the nappy comes off and he’s suddenly cold and threatening to wee all over the place (I forgot babies did that!).   So I usually have a screaming red faced baby who is cold and sometimes wet.   Ewan has calmed that experience down for us a lot.  There is still the occasional wee but a lot less red faced screaming now and he’s a much needed sheep during those times.

 And night time?

Whilst it doesn’t lull him straight into sleep it does keep him very calm and as the mum of a new baby this is fantastic.  Ewan has a Velcro looped tail which is great for attaching to his crib.   It looks slightly mean on Ewan but he doesn’t seem to mind too much; he just smiles a friendly smile.

I’d recommend this to a parent of any baby or newborn especially if they are soothed by white noises.   It would make an excellent present for a new baby and it actually does work on adults too.   I think overtime I’ll see if Little Baby E takes to heartbeat noises.  For now though the lullaby noises are perfect for us.

  1. After adopting my first beautiful nephew my brother is a daddy now to another little boy called Alex! We as a family are absolutely over the moon for them, however he is finding sleep very difficult as he was born with Talipes (club foot) just like my brother was, he has a few op’s to get through and maybe a Ewan would soothe him enough to get some more sleep, and let mummy & daddy get some too! xx Thank-you! x

  2. I would love to win Ewan for my friends new baby due December/January. My email address is the one used to comment. Fingers crossed x

  3. My beloved 83 year old Mother collects soft toys and derives so much sensory appreciation from them. I just know how much she would adore Ewan the dream sheep xxx

  4. I love the sound of rainfall, I’d be tempter to keep it for myself! 🙂 But I would most probably gift it to my friend for her little boy who’s 2 months old

  11. Whilst I have a baby I actually think I would use this for eldest little girl, for the heartbeat. She has separation anxiety. So it might save me getting a dead arm nightly.

  12. I’d love to win Ewan for my second baby due in a weeks time! I wish I’d had one for my daughter who was a terrible sleeper I think Ewan is the only thing I didn’t try and knowing about it now I wish I had!!!!

  13. Ewan would be PERFECT for us.
Daniel our son is 5 months and has never slept more than three hours. His best sleep was during his first four weeks. Now he wakes every hour and mammy NEEDS sleep. Please…….

  14. I would love to win Ewan the dream sheep for my partners three year old as he has trouble getting to sleep when he comes down to stay with us as he is in a strange room away from his mum, so this would really help, thanks for the chance 🙂

  15. I would actually love to win him for myself. Sounds stupid as an adult, but I have been having problems sleeping and I think he would help!

  16. My daughter Sophie she will always go to sleep in her pram beside the washing machine or tumbledryer but hard to get her down in her cot!x

  17. I’d love to win this and give it to my 6 month old son. He’s not the best sleeper in the world, so anything that may help him – and us – get a better nights sleep has to be worth a try.
