For some reason it’s still not registered in my tiny brain that I’m having a baby next week. My bump is pretty obvious, as is the diabetes and pain from SPD. Oh and the achey back. All signs of those last slow pesky weeks of pregnancy. I have about 3 days to go and that’s not very long really.
Last week got taken over by new school things and it’s been a pretty good, albeit draining one so its flown by. There have been short days and parent lunches and parent activities and all sorts of other bits. Its been a great way for the parents to settle in too. Little Z is happy and that’s a huge relief. Friday was the one and only full day I had to myself and I almost leaped for joy when I rang the gorgeous spa near us for the 5th time and found that they’d finally had a cancellation. One “radiant mum to be” massage was booked and thoroughly enjoyed. It was so good I have full intentions of booking the exact same one again in a few weeks time. I’ve confirmed with the lady there that it’s not a strange thing to do and lots of women do it. Supposedly.
There’s no big wave of sadness about going from a family of 3 to 4, it’s what we’ve wanted for a very long time and I’m pretty sure the reality isn’t going to hit me until I’m at the hospital, all gowned up. I may then flash some hysterically wild eyes at the Other Half. Obviously it will be too late to leg it then, plus I can’t run anyway and they’d catch me in no time and insist the baby does need to come join us all in the big wide world. I know my littlest man is very excited and will be a great little helper, at least until he discovers that the baby isn’t going to have never ending chats with him for quite a while and that they pretty much just drink milk and sleep. There’ll be a million and one questions about all sorts, and maybe a very lovely sibling bond eventually, I hope.
And so it is, we’ll potter about some more this weekend, fitting in naughty treats and late nights. Until our new chapter starts.
